FreedomPop: Calling & Texting App Reviews

This version crashes on my iphone 4S. I use other VoIP apps and FaceTime instead. FaceTime gives me over 2000 minutes using less than 1 gigabyte.

Keep getting the turn on notification every time I launch the app and my notifications are already on. It pops up back to back.

Ok, so to start its a great app! Ive had it for about a year and a half now and Ive been able to call and text fabulously. Ive noticed a few issues along the way recently though. Sometimes its pretty slow when allowing me to go to the texting screen. Another thing though,(and I dont think its my iPod but I could be wrong) is that Ill go to the app and head to texting. It will first say that I havent started texting. Then it will change a show that Ive started texting, but every thing will be loading. Then it will crash shortly after that. Some times right before I send a text or picture it will crash. Its been getting really annoying recently and I was wondering if this was fixable or its just me? But other than that its a great app and I highly recommend it.

When a contact has multiple phone numbers, you can not remove some phone number. Theres a bug on this version. I hope Fredompo fix it.

The app wont allow you to do ANYTHING unless you agree to give them access your address book. They give you the option to type in a phone number to make a phone call, but you cant actually do anything (call, save the number, etc) unless you give them your contact book. You cant simply enter a number, save within the app, and make calls or texts. If this app allowed you to manually enter contacts Id give it a positive review with 5 stars. As of now, I cant use it and will be deleting unless it changes as I am not giving any random company access to all my contacts. I highly doubt my friends and family would appreciate me giving out their number, email address, etc. Deleted! I would definitely reinstall should this issue be solved. Crashes from time to time. Problems woth navigation / sleep tracker alarm. Takes too long to see the messages. Other than that, working as it should be.

Its difficult to write a review because if your nickname has been used by others you must start over again completely. The Write a Review does not save your message for a try at using a different Nickname. This app doesnt work on my iPad 4 with IOS 8.4.1 It opens briefly then closes again. Wish it did work!

I HATE the messaging UI. Latest update ruins my feedompop experience. On the iPhone 4s I cant seem to send msg or delete visual voice mail. Phone calls are guaranteed to be not clear. The one plus is their data plan. Its cheap and seems to work when needed.

This is a cheap service BUT dont get me wrong is not bad at all, it is a good service, not an excellent, but good, it lets you do almost anything than other carriers Pros Good and cheap internet rates. And most of the phone services from any carrier. Cons International calling not supported for mobile phones just land lines On iPhone you will have problems trying to connect apps that require texting or calling Sometimes calls just go missing and wont show on recents or missed. Sometimes it will drop the call after answering. It might have a problem where your voice wont be heard until you use speaker on your side. You might not be able to receive some confirmation SMS of services like whatsapp, snapchat and similar apps. Claiming warranty is a pain since they would suspend your account until you get the new device.

I just got it for iPhone 6 and it works well. The only negative is that the VM and other features could be better. I have a Comcast land line ($10 month to — unavoidably — rent voip capable modem) which includes an app for voice, VM, and text (all via wi-fi only) and it has a lot more features. As far as Freedom Pop wanting access to contacts, I think that is normal and how smart phones and phone apps work. You can just tell your phone to "dial Mom" and it will dial mom! If they keep improving the app, it would be nice.

Although the service itself has been good so far, FreedomPop has a tendency to make their services and charges extremely vague and sketchy. Ive received bills of completely random amounts with no justification and no explanation for the charges made to the account. Its ridiculous and very frustrating- will not being using it anymore if this continues

Previous crashes have been fixed. Changed from 1 star to 5. Its great that the app is able to use a FreedomPop phone account with it. I have horrible cell service at home but have great home internet service. I can use the app to make and receive clear calls. I plan to keep the physical FreedomPop phone in the car for emergencies. I only wish the txt data would sync with the FreedomPop phone.

I am currently getting a bug where it says I have a billing error every time I open the app. Not affecting my texting or calling but frustrating. Also I am still hoping that a landscape mode for texting will be available soon. Great service though and love the ringtones.

Version 2.0 is not yet perfect, but few apps are truly perfect. I installed it on iOS 9.3.1 and 8.4 and it is stable, no crashing. The incoming calls are showing the name from stored contacts, which has been needed for a long time. The long list of ringtones hardly has anything very practical, such as the nice and loud native "Alarm" is; which I find the best in high noise environments. Well there are many different ringtones available in the freedom pop at the thing I find most even more evidence that they want to of them to be cute creations which do not offer sufficient alert volume allowing 14 the ringing of an incoming call to be heard in a high noise environment. If I could simply select the iPhones native ringtone called "alarm" that would be sufficient for my needs, as I ride a motor bike which makes hearing any ringtone difficult. When tapping "cancel" vs. "answer" on the popup notification, which allows you to either answer or reject an incoming call, when selecting cancel, the ringing stops- but only few seconds, and then the ringing resumes. This is certainly a major disappointment, especially since it used to function well on previous versions of this app. Hopefully, the next update will give us a simple, yet effective (LOUD, as in wake me up") ringtone. I activated another iphone today on FreedomPop and I am pleased to say, that FreedomPops customer service has improved tremendously, calls are being answered very quickly, less than a minute each of several times I called them in the past month.

this version was released with an app breaking bug. "billing error" pop up flashing, even when account is clear and in good standing. Calls and texts still complete fine, even though you have to click through the warnings. I like that the app is continually being improved and as usual the service is great and comes down to how good your signal and data connection is. I like the ability to select ring tones however I wish there was an option to still use the factory Apple ones if you want as Im used to hearing them and they arent an option to select. Also there should be a few more short tones for text as theres only a few. I still see the bug where if you try and delete individual calls from the call history they will reappear after selecting done but delete all will permanently delete them. I like the new design of the dialer but Id still like to have the option to choose a custom wallpaper for the texting area.

I can not get pass the enter verification code section. The email says verification being sent to you. I get the email and its blank. Request a resent and I get the same thing no verification code. This should be very easy to set up, but not here? Always an issue here. Can you help OR should I just stay with basic operations of phones?
