05/19/16 Update: It looks like the developers read my review and fixed 2 of the bugs (texting first and contact list bugs) I described in my original review! I also see they were trying to fix the battery problem. Thank you for listening, FP developers! However, the app is still a battery hog. I dropped an 8% charge just texting a few messages! Because of this, I give only 4 stars for this app! 04/28/16 Update: The updated app still does not address any of the problems described in my original review below. So this "update" is a non-event for me. To be more precise with the contact list, if you have at least 7 contacts, you cant scroll beyond it. Theres something wrong when the app lists the contacts. ORIGINAL REVIEW: There are 3 major problems with the app: 1) Its a battery hog. Even in the background, the app will drain the battery. 2) You cant send the first text message in a text session! Something is wrong with the layout when you try to initiate a text session. The app wont let you send the first text! However, if someone else sends you a text message FIRST, then the text session proceeds normally. 3) Theres a problem accessing the last item in a list, say, of contact names or phone numbers. You just cant select the last item on a list of more than 4-5 items! These problems are really annoying. Please fix this. IPhone 4S, iOS 9.2.1

I read some of the reviews and it sounds to me like is just Iack of knowledge of their devices. Been using it for a while now and I dont understand any of the problems other users are having. Its a matter of tweaking your settings to make it work like it supposed to. Go give your hard earned money to t-mobile, att or Verizon theyll be happy to tweak your device for $140 a month.

I definitely recommend it to all my honest friends. Id like to be a paid user.

I use my iPhone 5 FP mostly when I am in a rush to notify my wife of a situation currently. It seems that on those occasions the FP takes forever to Register. I wish that would be fixed.

Update 5/20- for anyone who has not updated their app to the latest, I strongly recommend you do it especially if you were having UI issues and were not able to fully use the phone or send messages. To FreedomPop developer, I would strongly recommend adding a notification widget for this app so I can show us missed call or when call comes in, or even how much data were currently using. Update-5/19 -they have updated their app and it works as normal now on iPhone 4s and my iPad. I am able to use the messaging app to write new messages as well as reply. Phone and contact info works on big devices. After updating my iPhone 4s I immediately saw the change and it worked great. As for my iPad, it didnt work immediately after the update so I uninstalled it and reinstalled it. After the reinstall it now works as it should. YEAH no more weird UI that makes it impossible to use the app. Now I can go back to being a paying customer and use some of the other service which requires a fee like voicemail. Thanks for the update v2.01. For everyone else if you havent updated I strongly recommend doing it especially if the UI was not working for you

ported over from T-Mobile into FreedomPop global service plan and couldnt be happier. just great!

Some bad moments

The last version fixed some previous bugs but introduced some more, my biggest concern is about receiving SMS, I get the notifications but when I open the app there is not any new, the only way I found to make it show up is to kill the app process and reopen the app; only then the new SMS appear!

Phone calls dont come up like a normal phone call. It takes about 10 seconds to pick up a call after receiving it.

Folks at FreedomPop seriously need to do a better job at maintaining their app. The UI tend to make the service completely impossible to use. The UI on the iPad is so scrunched up I cant make calls,see text messages use the contact or anything else for that matter. Please fix the UI on the iPad. On the iPhone the message feature is screwed up. Whenever I try to send a new message to someone the send button is completely hidden. Im only able to reply to text messages but not send new ones. I wish I could give this app a negative 5 because its so fracking useless on top of that the app constantly crashes.

It wont stop telling me to enable notifications!!! I keeps popping up a message over and over. I dont want notifications.

Keeps crashing wont let me see messages but keeps saying i have messages wont let me answer phone calls needs to be fixed

More appealing than Vonage, but this app doesnt work on my fully iOS-updated 5c.
