FreedomPop: Calling & Texting App Reviews

Free US calls and text

Whats not to love. Had an issue where it kept crashing on open but an uninstall and reinstall seems to have taken care of that.

Very useful

I use this all the time and it saves me a lot of money since my mobile has limited calling units

So-so

I was hoping this app would eliminate the need to buy a phone plan but it doesnt. You can use it with wifi but that does you no good when you go somewhere without wifi. It can save money by allowing you to but a cheaper plan because FP gives you 200 free voice minutes and ? Minutes Free text messages. The voice calls break up a lot on wifi. I havent tried it with 3G yet.

Works well but ...

Works as advertised but .... If youre on hold, it seems to require some form of talking to yourself otherwise, the line can drop. Other than that

Like it

Great app. Very happy with the free service. Hope Canadian phone numbers may be coming?

Garbage

You get a star so I can write a review only. If it is free you do not need my credit card number

Worst phone ever

Fpt let them Fool you.

Pretty horrible all around

This is not for cell service out of the US, it does work on wifi etc anywhere. These guys have poor service, the app has been a nightmare from the beginning, customer service is atrocious. If you want service in the US, find a cheap sprint compatible phone (check that they will allow you to activate it), and go to RingPlus and get far gooder service, free! Then, if you want a Canadian number to use in the US or anywhere sign up for the FreedomPop free plan, and use this app on your RingPlus phone or any device. No free cell service in Canada.

Still crashing even after updating.

Still crashing even after updating. Also tried to uninstall and reinstall but it is still crashing at startup.

Great App!!!

Im happy with it everday calling.

Contacts access required or does not work.

The app does not work correctly unless I give it access to my contacts. I dont want any app accessing my contacts. I have also found reviews that Freedompop will spam my contacts.

Best MVNO in the world.

FreedomPop is the best MVNO in the world, so far. Keep up the great work!

Horrible

Please Update the app. it does not function when I need it the most.

Make a contact picture option

Samsung phones are able to select pictures to display on a contact and as the users own contact. Make this happen please

Not horrible!

I like the new update, and the variety of new ringtones. This app is improving and I like where its going! What would be even cooler is being able to change the text bubble color/ Dial pad color. And the wallpaper in text chats. FreedomPop could be the next huge thing and by giving your customers more options, it keeps them happy!

Dude it sounds good

I was surprised how good the calls sound. Thanks FreedomPop!

I love Freedom Pop

I love Freedom Pop. Wifi & texting are great. Bluetooth & hotspot work very well. I occasionally have silences during calls but I cant beat the value.

Dont even consider this if you need to use a cell phone

I picked this as I wanted a small bill and was unsure about my work status after my daughter was born. This gave me the freedom to not have a $100 bill BUT its the worst service EVER. You will not be able to answer calls, your phone may or may not ring for calls, you will have to continuously log in and and out to reboot your service, and your text messages will make the noise a new message is in and will be blank. Then after a few resets it will erase all your messages except what you wrote to people and all the random texts you missed will pop up. It also does not keep track of your recent calls at all so youll have no idea what calls you have missed. Then you have to buy any add ons like a horrible voice mail that rarely works properly and cuts people off. And you can only listen to your messages on speakerphone. Sprint towers in my area are spotty at best as well. BEWARE DO NOT GET THIS SERVICE!

Cheapest phone plan ever

I ported my number to freedompop about 8 months ago. It is saving me a small fortune. I am using a cheap unlocked sprint iPhone from eBay. So far my only cost has been about 5$ in data overage charges per month. The call quality is usually good to ok, and the Sprint backbone coverage is better than my old T-Mobile. Also the LTE data coverage works in places my T-Mobile wouldnt even get a call signal. You need to use the freedompop app to answer and make calls (texts and of course FaceTime still work through iMessage). It does take a few steps and seconds to answer the phone if it is locked but if you are looking to cut your phone bill this is a great plan.

Texting completely useless

In the current version, texting is completely unusable even if the app doesnt crash repeatedly. As soon as anything is entered, the Send button is hidden from view. The message entered is nearly invisible as it scrolls underneath the header. Dont waste your time. As a potential customer, if the app is this buggy, Im not sure I even want to consider transferring my number for use with FP.
